Therapist-led Pilates (Single and Group)

Pilates, taught by a qualified or trained therapist, so that even people with spine, posture or neurological conditions can benefit.

What is Therapist-led Pilates?

Pilates is a low impact conditioning exercise that strengthens core muscles of the body to provide you with improved strength, balance and control. Pilates can also ease and prevent muscular aches and pains.

Pilates at Bradley Stoke Physio & Health is led by one of our Physiotherapists, and our Massage Therapist (who originally qualified as a physiotherapist), both of whom are also qualified Pilates Instructors. See Kath and Katie’s profiles for more details. They may prescribe Pilates exercises as part of your overall treatment if you would benefit from greater core stability. With their knowledge of how the body works and of your condition, they can modify your Pilates exercise to best suit your ability and fitness levels. This ensures your exercise will be safe and effective for you.

What conditions is Therapist-led Pilates used to treat?

As you’re under the expert guidance of therapists with professional experience of treating physical conditions, Therapist-led Pilates is suitable for almost everyone. It can be used to increase flexibility and to alleviate pain and stiffness caused by:

  • Sciatica
  • General neck and back pain
  • Weak stomach muscles
  • Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Scoliosis
  • Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological conditions

Pilates can also promote wellbeing and good sleep. It’s ideal for any age from young adult upwards, and any ability and fitness level.

How does Therapist-led Pilates work?

With Kath or Katie teaching you Pilates exercises that are appropriate to you and your condition, your muscles will get a head start in making sure they’re working in the right way. Pilates strengthens and tones your core (back, stomach, and pelvic floor muscles; hips and upper body), enhances your flexibility, and improve your movement, balance and muscle control.
